Hi Renee, it looks pretty modern to me and the label isn't anything like the ones in the Label Resource. Can you tell us if there are shoulder pads and provide photos of any other labels: especially care label, country of origin, fabric - if you can't find them, try down the side seam.

It's an odd label that. The font, which looks like Bodoni Ultra or something similar, is totally at odds with liberty's current branding, so I find it hard to imagine it's completely current. It's also not a very 21st century font choice, nor the heritage Arts & Crafts / Art Nouveau-esque font they use now.

I can't find any other example of that font used by them. It's not a million miles from the label font used in the 6os/70s, but much much heavier, and I don't think it's that early. So assuming it's genuine, perhaps a short lived label style from the late 20th century.

I'm talking purely about the label, I'm not sure when the coat is from.

I'm getting a 1990s vibe from this - the label doesn't look quite modern enough to me to be a current label. It looks of an age that should have an accompanying care label so I'd like to see both sides of that if present please.

Edit: Cross posted with Ruth - good to see we both had the same feeling from it. It's just not Liberty's style now is it?

Hi everyone: Thank you very much for your kind replies. I enclose some pics of the inside of the cape. It is unlined and has shoulder pads and the small hanger loop in the back of the neck.

I'm feeling 70s here, based on the label font, and the interior views.
It's a lovely item.

I'll vote late '80s to early '90s and concur about it being very different to the usual Liberty style.

I agree with Nicole on dating, particularly because of that European multi country size label, which familiar with and I'm fairly sure I've haven't seen any earlier than that.

I'm afraid content/care label is illegible on both sides. I saw the label is different from the ones in the label resource. Is it possible that it is a genuine Liberty of London garment?
