Please help with style and age of velvet hat.

Hi,
I was given this hat by my mom who said she thought it was from 30s or 40s, but would like some clarification. The label says Designed by Stylist Chicago. I could find no information. Also, what would you call this style of hat?

That is sweet! It looks like a cross between a Phrygian cap and a beret, both French styles. That style was very popular in the 1930s, but the hat could be a bit later, maybe 1940s. The pin looks later than 1930s to me, is it possibly an addition?

Just saw your replies! Thanks you so much for answering. :-) The rhinestone decoration is actually sewn on and is not a brooch. Maybe added later for some extra style? :) Appreciate you replying!!
