Thick silk satin Cheongsam made by China Silk House of Honolulu - looked them up and they have been in business since 1951. Left side metal YKK zipper and metal snaps up the front.

Thanks...

It might be an Australian 12 which is about a modern US 8. There are a lot of Hong Kong made clothes here, and made for our market because of the British link and proximity.

These were popular in the '60s but are still being made and the shine on the fabric makes me wonder if it's more modern - they can be very hard to date.

The great condition, the fact that it is silk and says "Hong Kong" rather than something like "British Hong Kong" makes me think that it's from the last twenty years.

This was made for the Hawaiian market... The China Silk House is a boutique in Hawaii and has been there since 1951 - that much I know about the dress. I'm thinking it is late 60s or early 70s and the sheen it has is because it is a nice silk satin. I had a McInerny dress that was silk satin and it had the same sheen to it.

Well, I put it in the late 60s/early 70s just to be sure but it does have quite a bit of hand finishing fyi. The hem is hand done and the sides have been tacked down by hand. The zipper to me looked more like some of the talon ones that I purchased new in their packages that were dated and between 1968 - 1974 so that is why I listed the dress on the safe side.
