Please help with this Solid Pucci

jewel

I love this piece but I'm having some trouble:<p>1) I'd like some input whether it's really a Pucci since the tag simply reads Emilio and it's unusual for it to be "plain" rather than a colorful print.<p>2) What would I call it? A dress, beach cover up, tunic, duster? <p> 3) Would it be 60's?<p>I've been holding on to this for a while because I've been trying to research it, but no luck. When I google, I get a blurb referencing this site about how Pucci teamed up with Rose Marie Reid in the 60's, but when I click the link I'm directed to the "R" page for label resource and it doesn't tell about their work together. <p>Any help would be greatly appreciated. <p>Anne<p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_front.jpg" width=400 height=689><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_back_007.jpg" width=400 height=654><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_collar_003.jpg" width=400 height=300><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_back_close_005.jpg" width=400 height=300><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_tag__008.jpg" width=400 height=300>

Welcome!!!

EMilio Pucci has done plainer items. Our member Bonnie had a licensed tweed suit and Lin (noir boudoir) had solid blue Pucci items

here is the complete label resouce:
http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/labels_f.html

I don't think we have that label in there yet.

With that back detail..is that a button in the back? it is probably meant to wear as a tunic or a dress.

There are bigger Pucci experts than i am, so i am sure they will chime in!

Chris

I was thinking the same as you Jonathan...a pool side or beach coverup.
Although it would work equally well as a tunic with skinny pants

Nice!

Sue

would all of you say 60s on this as she was asking for a date...or does anyone have any more specific timeframe or a different timeframe?

Wow, you people are great! Thanks for your replies so far and thanks for the welcome! <p>The buttons on the back bottom pleat are decorative. So, it's really fine then to list as a Pucci? I just wanted to be sure so not to mislead anyone in my listing. ( I know, I'm paranoid!)
<p>I think it would be great as a top with skinny pants as well... I'll have to look for some to pair with it for a pic. <p>I would be more than happy to offer this label for the board. Can you use this one, or do I need to send it differently?<p>Anne

No, it does not mislead to say "Pucci". Collectors know he did solid color stuff too. just make sure to put "emilio pucci for rose marie reid' in the description.

the photo is very clear, we can shrink it, rotate it , etc, to be the right size.

Yes, I agree with 60s and Anne - 'pucci' it away!! Good luck!

Sue

I can see this with the skinny pants...in fact, I would wear this with the skinny pants!!

Good luck and let us know when you are listing it!! :)

Wow! I think you would be right-on if you characterized this as Rare - it is a rarely-seen label, that's for sure!

You're right on about it probably being a beach/pool cover-up because of the R.M. Reid connection (oooh, I wonder if it had a matching bathing suit!) <i>and</i> that it would look fabulous over a pair of white cigarette pants or capris.

The colorblocking is great, the style is right-on for this Spring AND it's vintage Pucci -

Great find, Anne! Please do let us know when you list it.

:)

Now my wheels are turning! I realize I have a few more questions. <p> Btw, I am “jewel”. I’m logged in under this ID, which was (is) my original. I had lost my password, and couldn’t figure out how to recover it, so I made the temporary jewel ID. <p>First off, I’d like to clean this before I list it. It’s not dirty or stained, but I’d like to freshen it up. Should I have it dry-cleaned, and if so, is there anything special I need to mention to them since it is vintage? Or, since I think the fabric might be polished cotton, should I attempt to hand wash this myself? <p>2) does the fabric look like cotton to the rest of you? Looking at the inside seams, and seeing the way the threads are “raveled” under the seam, I thought it might be. <p>3) what are opinions on a fair starting price? <p>I’ve include pics of the dress/tunic/beach cover-up with a pair of Capri’s. I know they don’t look the greatest; they’re what I had on hand. Do they look too horrid for the listing? <p>Thanks a bunch (again) for all of your help!<p>Anne<p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_pants_003.jpg" width=400 height=852><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_inside_seam__005.jpg" width=400 height=533><p><img src="http://image.inkfrog.com/pix/walli/pucci_material_close__004.jpg" width=400 height=300>

I always try the "do no harm" route. I will wait for others to comment, but if there are no stains and it just needs a "freshening" from storage, I have succesfully used Dryel, or use the bag that comes with it and put a dryer sheet in with it. I just don't trust things to take to a drycleaner unless there is damage and it is "can't hurt it" situation.

You can do a burn test by cutting off a loose thread to determine if it is cotton. There is a sheen to it from how it looks in the photo...so it could be polished cotton but could also be a blend. I will have to look up on how to do it, but you can determine by smell/how it behaves on what the fabric is.

I don't know about starting price...i will wait til others pop in and give their opinions...
