Is there a way to date a pair of pjs. from registration pat'd number?

I see about this name on the VFG but I have a set that looks earlier.

2179675 is the number.

very Art Deco looking and fabric like taffeta?

Photos soon. Thanks. I will say they must be very comfortable.
Quite fun as well.

Thanks. I never know where I will find stuff. I just pick out stuff I love.

Definitely Hugh Hefnerish. Needs a smocking jacket and ready to go.

Thank you.
The button holes on the shirt and tabs on sides of pants are horizontal.
I believe they are silk acetate after reading more.

Good detective work - so it looks like you can safely date them '40s, probably early '40s unless they produced the style for many years.

I agree with '40s and love the fabric design.

My thought was rayon jacquard for the fabric, as silk is generally marked as such and is more unusual for pyjamas from this time. Great Deco style weave which I think puts it closer to '41 than not, as textile fashion moved away from those styles during the '40s. Rayon is more common in the '40s and similar to acetate and still has a slight sheen. Taffeta is a plain (satin) weave fabric which is great for evening wear but easily crushed so would not be suitable for pyjamas.
