Pls help identify this Latin Lady Brooch

Ladies,

This is the brooch I referred to in my Granny Panty inquiry.

My research revealed nada. The Latin Lady is 5 inches high and somewhat heavy. She's made of a hard ceramic or chalkware and painted on the front with what feels like a rubbery, plastic type material. Her shoes appear 30s or 40s to me. She's from the same estate in Michigan where the Not-Granny Panties came from.

No marks of any kind.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Mia

How CUTE is she???

I'm no help, but I do love her!

Dorothy Kindell, Carmen Miranda, Rita Hayworth - they all fit, don't they?

And those Glamoursurf pics of Rita are to die for - and remember, the stars didn't have millions in cosmetic surgeries done to them back then . . . . .

Is it any wonder that we love those times?

Thank you ladies, so I believe it's resolved that my pin is 40s. . .

Still a mystery as to who made it. . . . . . . . . . . .

Mia

Hi Mia -- Dorothy Kindell made 'pin up girl' ceramics -- I did a quick search online to see if I could locate your pin, but didn't see her particular face -- although her face is very familiar to me in that form, but can't place it.

A lot of her earlier pieces looked like this, while many of her later pieces are more 'naughty girl' risque in appearance. Not all Kindell is signed, that's why I was interested in trying to match it up, since it would mean a higher ka-ching.

Oh, I see! Now I understand - Laura, you're saying you believe it's a Kindall piece and Carrie is thinking it might be Elzac . . . I looked at the links -

Yes, it would be fabulous to learn I've got something here of some value though I didn't necessarily intend to sell this one. I've an outfit that has lots of green - I wear a lot of green in any case - and figured I'd wear it at some point though haven't yet . . . . . .

Since the Elzac weren't marked, I see a lot will depend on whether a same Kindall piece can be found . . . .

You know, Elzac makes perfect sense because as soon as I felt the finish on the front of this brooch I immediately thought of Barbie and smelled it to see if it had a crayon scent - is that prescience??

Ha. Ha. :clapping:

In case my last post wasn't clear, what I meant to say was that it was BEFORE I asked VFG for assistance with identification of this piece, the skin-like plastic overlay on the front made me think of Barbie and smell it.

(Hardly would have been prescient if I did that only after being tipped by you guys!)
