Polo by RL 3 Piece Suit - Early???

First sorry for bad pics - just did some quick pics before taking to dry cleaner before they closed. I picked up this 3 piece suit with Polo by RL label. I originally figured it must be fairly recent but then found the union label used from 1962-1974. Did some research on RL and looks like earliest this could be is 1968 when he did first suits. This label also doesn't match any in label resource but it does match the logo shown on his website for 1968. I am wondering if this might be one of his early suits? The vest/shirtwaist has small lapels which was making me think it could be earlier than 1970s. On his website, photos show this look in 1968-1969 and then in 1970 the look changes.

Am I right to hope this could be late 1960s? I realize we are talking about a VERY narrow window of time but was kind of hoping to get lucky.

Pants are flat front and cuffed. Suit is a navy wool and is really gorgeous. Again, another with very tiny measurements - 28" waist on pants.

Thanks all - again sorry bad pics but hoping you can discern the styling features that might help date.

Polo is how old? I know RL's been designing for a long time but when did he design under Polo?

ps - everything go okay with that other matter? I'm so excited for it to!

No movement on other. First Polo suits in 1968. They have a really nice "history" section at polo.com. going to get better pics tmw. Never got to dry cleaners.

Are the labels like that one? It looks so contemporary. He WAS a visionary, huh?

Bummer. It's what she said she wanted. Fingers crossed.

No worries on that front...if meant to be will happen.

I would have passed it by if not for the union label. The label is different from the newer ones but until I compared I wouldn't have really noticed. I really am just trying to figure out early this might be. It looks more 60s than 70s to me but I know can be hard to narrow down so far.

It could be late '60s but it's hard to tell without seeing it on someone, because the style is conservative and it lacks the defining features of the time - like wide lapels.

Just going by the style I would say mid '70s but suits can be hard sometimes, especially when they're conservative, and waistcoats were very popular in the '70s. It's an unusual waistcoat, with many buttons. The style of the pants looks early '80s but again - it's hard to tell without seeing it on. Sorry I can't help more. It's not like any of the '60s suits I've seen.
