I will start out. I haven't made these yet (not exactly these) but they sound delicious. They are from a magazine from an electric co-op we are a member of and are titled Sweets with Memories.

Texas Cake

2 C sugar
2 C flour
1/2 C margarine
1 C water
1/2 C oil
4 T powdered cocoa
1/2 C buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder

Combine sugar and flour and set aside. Combine margarine, water, oil and cocoa in a sacepan and let boil for 30 seconds. Pour this into flour mixture and stir well. Then add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and baking powder. Mix well. Pour into a greased (15x10x1-inch) jellyroll pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Icing:
1/2 C margarine
4T powdered cocoa
1/4 C milk
1 -1 lb box confectioners' sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 C chopped pecans

Mix together and boil margarine, cocoa and milk. Remove from heat and add sugar, vanilla and pecans. Beat mixture well and spread on hot cake.

Reese's Pieces Pie

1 C butter
2 C graham cracker crumbs
2 C confectioner's sugar
1 C smooth peanut butter
1 C chocolate chips

Mix the butter, graham cracker crumgs, confectioners' sugar and peanut butter together well. Press the mixture in a 9x13x2-inch pan. Melt chocolate chips in microwave 1 minute, stir chocolate until smooth (microwave more if needed). Spread chocolate over mixture. Let cool slightly and cut into squares before chocolate dries.

Spicy-Nut Pumpkin Cookies

1 1/2 C sugar
1/2 C butter
1 C cooked pumpkin
1 egg beaten
1 C flour
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cloves
1/4 C chopped nuts
1/4 C raisins (optional)

Cream sugar and butter. Stir in pumpkin and egg. Sift together flour and seasonings; add to pumpkin mixture. Mix well. Add nuts and raisins. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

(if this one doesn't taste good, then it will surely make your kitchen smell good!)
 
THANKS!!! I esp. love the "oldies but goodies" cooking with natural ingredients (not processed stuff)!

Anyone have any outstanding appetizer recipes? It is my turn to make appies for Brunch Club in December.
 
I use to make this a long time ago. Just take some refrigerated biscuits and roll them out together in a rectangle. Spread sausage over that and roll in up into a long roll. Wrap in wax paper and put in the freezer to set a bit. Then take out, slice in little 1/2 inch pieces and bake. I think we called them sausage pinwheels.

The easiest thing we have each year is to put a block of cream cheese in a pretty bowl and pour that green hot pepper jelly over it. Serve with crackers...yum..
