Potiche - amusing film, totally 70s style

I went to see the french film Potiche yesterday night - it's still on at one of our Arthouse cinemas. It's set in 1977, and the 70s may not be everybody's favorite era for vintage clothing, but it certainly looks great and was a load of fun to watch. The film's story is just pure fun, and the costumes, hairstyles and complete late 70s decor just add to that. I had such a blast... Ok, it may seem a bit over the top that the daughter looks like Farrah Fawcett and the son like Claude François, but the whole thing is just continually teetering on the over the top, so, in the end, it was ok. You can watch the trailer at IMDB at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1521848/ - and I can only recommend everybody to see it!

I LOVE French comedies - thanks for the link. I will add it to my list. There are also a couple of movies set in the late 60s - early 70s about a James Bond type spy that looks fun, but I can't remember the name of the films at the moment...

I love French comedies too :D. There's a few more coming up here in the next month. I saw a few trailers yesterday (Les Emotifs Anonymes, Les femmes du 6ième), and of course there's Rien à déclarer, the next one by Danny Boon. Can't wait.

As for the spy series, apart from Austin Powers, there's nothing that springs to my mind right now.

I'm a big fan of French comedies! Thanks for the link. Will add to my list as well.

Two of my favourites were directed by Étienne Chatiliez: Tatie Danielle and Tanguy.

Jonathan, I've never heard of these OSS movies before - they probably didn't make it across the "language border" here in Switzerland - at least where cinemas go. Maybe I can catch them on French or Swiss French TV, they sound fun and I'm sure they will be on sometime. Been concentrating a bit much on British TV lately :embaressed: . A bit more French can't hurt.

Uh, Tanguy, yes, that one was a lot of fun too! There are so many great French comedies - they simply make the best ones.
