I have recently purchased 2 vintage skirts. They are NOS - Deadstock. One still has the original tag attached.
They are Povel Exklusiv Modell Emma Peel. I have done my "homework" and search about this label.
I found out that:
"For trendsetters in the fashion industry is Povel in 1968 with a campaign around a Mrs. Emma Peel collection from Povel fabrics. The English actress Diana Rigg, in her role as Emma Peel, the lead actress of the TV series The Avengers & Melone (The Avengers), presents women's clothing for fashion-conscious young women. A fresh breeze of "Swinging London" blowing through the Nordhorner province.

In the course of 1968, several full-page ads will appear for Mrs. Emma Peel collection in journals and magazines such as Stern, Bravo, Constanze, girlfriend and Brigitte. The materials produced in the Povel Emma Peel - collection to be sold with the aid of appropriate license agreements to selected clothing manufacturers. So the Nordhorner clothing company ERFO receives the license to produce a collection of blouses from 25 Emma Peel models and the well-known Wattenscheider company Steilmann the license to produce trouser suits and ladies skirts." - http://www.stadtmuseum-nordhorn.de/textilhistorie/povel-historie.html

"Finally, here is an overview of the beautiful Mrs. special gallery. Emma Peel Kollektion that the visitor can discover the 3rd floor of the former art deco factory, effectively converted into an elegant town museum, with a very interesting presentation on the evolution of fashion (broadly defined) in Germany the West until the late 1970s" - http://steedsecrets.canalblog.com/archives/2014/06/09/29993466.html

I have seen that an add of this collection was sold with aprox. 50 USD on ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/orig-Reklam...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I want to sell this rare skirts and I need you to help me with price quotation.
Thank you very much.

welcome to our forums, VB, and what a fun find!

we ask that all new visitors please read our Welcome to The VFG Forums...in it you will find our #6:

  • Trade Members of the VFG are unable to value items posted in the forums. For valuation we recommend professional appraisers or searching sold values on sites such as Ruby Lane and ebay.

your skirt is adorable, congratulations!

Thank you. I didn't find any similar item sold on ebay or rubylane. Where can I find a professional appraiser (please if you know one give me a link). I am sorry if a have a mistake asking for price quotation. I didn't asked for an advice for 8 years on this forum and 8 years ago it wasn't a problem asking for this.

vintageboutique, many people come here asking for valuations but what it's worth and how much you can sell it for varies depending on where you sell it, how you sell it, who is looking at the time and sees your offer....as well as condition, style, colour, size etc.

Personally I find that single skirts do not go for as much as tops or sets - they would have had matching vests or jackets originally. You might like to look for Avenger's collectors or Emma Peel fans as they will have more worth to collectors than people wanting to wear cute '60s skirts - so the one with the tag will be worth more than the other. You could talk to an auctioneer who sells collectables.

It's not uncommon to have difficulty finding values online for rare items but if you search for late '60s Mod style mini skirts in polyesters and crimplene you'll see what they go for without the Emma Peel association. I did a search and found several from $5-30. The swing tag and label should raise that if you find the right place to sell it to the right people.

The ebay listing you linked to above accepted an offer so it may have been a lot less than the price asked.
