Princess Beatrice\'s hat...oh my..

What exactly is that on Princess Beatrice's head, how the heck did she get it to stay there (lots and lots of bobby pins I would assume)? It's like the doll hat gone berserk. But it has its own Facebook fan page, apparently. I know critics dismissed Aretha Franklin's inaugaral hat but afterwards a lot of women tried to buy it. It was literally a hat stampede in my area of the world with much fistfighting and many pointed words over knock offs.. So...are copies already being pedaled on the other side of the pond? So...are you guys over there chomping at the bit to put a copy away to sell in 2035 as an iconic hat or are you all shaking your heads?

Love the hat!

But the rest of the outfit is boring, too big, and too matronly for her!

I also saw a comment that the two sisters' outfits were Fergie's Revenge, LOL! I do think it's a bit of a shame that they couldn't let bygones be bygones and invite Will's Aunt Fergie to the wedding.

I actually like Beatrice's ensemble and hat better than Eugenie's. I believe both hats are by Philip Treacy.

I kind of like it! But I always side with the weirder things. I just wish she would have gotten her hair curled or done up. Overall I think she looks cute :drinkingtoast:

Hi,

I think they both looked ..well......not very fashionable. Their outfits looked matronly...and I did not like either of the hats. But then I am not really big fan of PT anyway...his hats have been rather boring to me the last few years.

The blue hat is just dull and unimaginative.....I watched him making it on the pre game show and he seemed to just take a big rose and plop in on the blue hat, and then he did not what else to put on it....apparently later he just grabbed some feathers and stuck them on the end. I don't know...it looks thrown together and the trim looks tacky to me.

I think that beige hat is honestly....horrid (at least on her). And I am not afraid to say so. It looks...well..stupid. He should have had her wear it placed to the side of her head, at least that might have helped. It was dead center on her forehead and she looked silly! But the hat just would look better on someone else. She is rather pretty and probably would have been stunning in the right hat. Sorry, PT was not on his game when he chose those hats for those women.

The fact that she sat directly behind the Queen made the hat look even more silly, and took attention away from the proceedings.

I am brutal in my opinion when it comes to hats!

There...I said it.

I'm just going to be honest too - didn't like either outfit. They're pretty girls, but their outfits did nothing for them in my opinion, and looked weird - and so did their hats. I have nothing against the weird - if it looks good. But this didn't.
I think Beatrice's outfit was too bland (the color), and it looked too big and shapeless - and yes, matronly on her. The crazy had couldn't save this outfit.
As for Eugenie's... it just looked awkward to me all the way. It was a beautifully bright spot of color (I love bright colors after all!), but I think that top doesn't suit her at all, with those bows... also, to me it felt as if the top and the skirt (or was it a whole dress?) didn't fit together.
I've definitely seen them better dressed and better styled in pictures from other occasions... really too bad for them!

I quite like Beatrice's hat but I agree that she should have worn her hair up, and the rest of her outfit isn't flattering - and the hat (as interesting as it is) isn't beautiful or appropriate for this event.

Looking at the outfits on display (especially with regards to Eugenie and Bea) I wondered if people considered that they may never again attend such a major event and that literally billions of people will see them.

Hi,

Someone posted on another thread...that this looked like a "be-ribboned toilet seat"! I agree. Or is it a be-ribboned garter? Even worse with the historic implications....that would be quite an insult to the Royals!

I also read an interesting quote....that since the Royals snubbed Fergie by not inviting her to the wedding, the daughter purposely wore a silly hat and of course she knew she would be sitting right behind the Queen herself. So for all time when the Queen sees herself on film at the wedding...there is THAT HAT behind her like a....

"beribboned toilet seat"!

I think now I love that darn silly ugly hat. They should have invited Fergie.

LOL, am I the only one who liked both of their outfits and hats???

They are young and skinny so they can wear whatever they want. If I were young and skinny and had somewhere fancy to go, I'd probably wear those two outfits too :D

I like the ribbon hat--the outfits on those 2 -- not so much.

What's with the extreme bust darts in all these wedding clothes? wow.

'nuff said. More 'shop fun here!. That said, I love crazy hats....this one just doesn't *quite* work for my tastes. But it's fun! Sadly she's upstaged Kate at this point, which is sad.

I did not like either hat or outfit. Every time I saw them all I could think of were Cinderella's step sisters. Here you have Catherine in this classic gown looking every bit the Princess and these two looking a bit gaudy in their, um, interesting ensambles with TONS of make-up on to boot. The beige hat looked a bit Dr. Seuss to me.

Loved the pink hat, thought it very imaginative and looked a bit like an oval picture frame to me. Didn't like both dresses - or the other hat - and thought they should both have worn VINTAGE! (something 60s...)

I thought Beatrice's dress was actually a spring coat - I thought it was cute. Reminded me of something a younger lady (younger than them) would wear to church on Easter sunday. I think the colors of Eugenie's outfit suited her very well.

For some reason, I originally thought she (Beatrice) had the hat on wrong. I don't know how to describe it, but maybe the cap on in reverse and the other part laying flat against her head and at a slightly downward angle as it sloped back - how she wore it would be like a comb over that flipped up in the front. I agree - wrong occasion for the hat. It would have been better suited to an art show/museum opening etc than a cousin's wedding, but that is just me.

I think in some circles the thought of Samantha Cameron NOT wearing a hat caused a bigger stir than Princess Beatrice wearing one.
