Hello there! Please could you help me? I have recently come to the (painful) decision to sell my private collection of female vintage fashions. The collection ranges in size, style and era. Including a gorgeous cream Jaegar jacket, a Grace Kelly style brown lace evening gown and a sixties mod long sleeved shift dress in red, ochre and black print. Can anyone advise me as to the best way to sell this on?I would be very greatful. Thank you so much for your time and help!Rose (London,UK)

Rose, do you want to sell it in its entirety or a item at a time?

You might well realize more selling pieces individually, but it will take a great deal more time and effort. To sell individually to the retail public and get top dollar , you would need to explore ebay, or other internet selling sites, or even your own stall at locoal antique/vintage clothing fairs.
That will be time consuming - a new part time job - and will have some costs associated with it.

Or , you could take photos and send them around to dealers in your area with a package price for the whole collection.

We do have members in th UK who I suspect will pop in and have some advice for you!

Hello Rose :)

Just echoing Hollis really. It depends how you wish to dispose of things, and how much free time you have to devote!

I'm sure there are any number of dealers in your area who may be interested as a wholesale lot. If you decide to approach any (or have any approach you) photo's are always useful.

The other option you have would perhaps be to enter your collection into a costume auction locally, of which I am sure there would be a few if you are based in London.

How many pieces do you have altogether? That may be a consideration as to which road you go down, and as Hollis says whether you want to sell individually or as a lot.
