I found this amazing Pucci dress and whether it is 60s or 80s it doesn't make as it is truly lovely. But the more I try to read about them the more I am curious and truly want to up my dating game.
Any dating suggestion would be really appreciated.
It is solid silk jersey very popular in the 60s but it appears there might be some shoulder padding that was removed and that would be more 80s
Seams are not overlock in traditional way but looks like perhaps by hands. And some seams are pinked. There is a side metal zipper closure. It cant be earlier that 60 as for the label. Would they do that kind of detail in the 80s and wouldn't zipper be plastic then not colored metal. It doesn't look like it was replaced unless it was replaced by amazing seamstress.
Thank you in advance.

Overall I get a late 1970s feeling, the style of bodice in particular, together with the colour and drape.
It certainly has some high quality features - the two part covered button, hook/eye covered with thread, hand picked zip and hand bound fabric edges. Without the label I would have said it was a custom dressmaker made garment. Can you do a burn test? It doesn't read as silk to me.

Thank you for looking.
I will sure try when I get home. I always het reluctant to cut even tinest pieces from dresses like that.
I have a very similar jersey knit dress in black and longer. That one has a 60-70s ilgwu label on. It has a plastic zipper in the back.Fabric looks similar but in hand feels much different in weight and flow. That one burned brightly and without silk smell, so I think not silk. This one does feel different.

I also found a very very similar dress in cut and color by pucci online and they dated it 60s
But the remnants of threads to secure a shoulder pad throw me off. Did they use that in the 70?
This is a photo of that black dress made for saks that I have in my closet,
