Purse & bag ~ 2 different Reptiles ~ help please

I am so not good at anything slimy- creepy-crawly. Snakes, gators, or crocks are way out of my league. Any experts out there? Sorry in advance for the jumbo pictures

These shoes look so much better in person.. the pictures actually make them look bad.
are they 40's?
verifying they are croc?

Von, love the shoes! I can't tell gator from croc from cayman to save my life, though. On the bag, I'm thinking later than late 60s 'cuz of the skinny strap. Looks, to me, more like a 70's sling/disco bag.... And it's definitely snakeskin, and looks absolutely authentic.

The way I tell genuine snake from faux is to bend the bag or shoes and see if the tips of the scales "lift" a bit. If so, it's real. If it's embossed, the "scales" won't lift. And I feel it; sometimes you can tell by the feel--real won't be as smooth as fake when you rub against the grain--usually.

Thanks so much you guys!

Eileen, i think the shoes are a 5..inside measures 8-3/4" from toe to heel. and it looks like a 5 stamped on the bottom. no maker or any identification.

Do you guys agree 40's on the shoes? If anyone has a greatly appreciated price suggestion can you U2U me please? i want to put them on RL.

Anne.. the skin doesnt lift. it looks so realistic, but i cant find any area to lift, and its all shiny, like a coating over it.

thanks again!

another sign of authentic snake skin is also irregularities in the skin- the dark patches on your bag wouldn't come from an imitation...

Von, you have a bag that's in really great condition, with no degradation of the finish. I rarely find snakeskin that is in such wonderful shape--so, yes, it is real, especially with those variations in color, as noted above.... Carrie's right about the name, too. A nice brand.

That size in shoes might be a bit harder sell than if they were a 7 or 8, but they're still great shoes!

thanks so much ya'all.. its appreciated :)

ironically, i had snakeskin pumps that sold about 6 mos ago, also J Rene.. from different estates. Wish i still had them, they'd be a cute set!

I love selling Internationally! i bet at least 80% of my items go overseas..

these kind of scared me tho with laws on shoes, reptiles in each country. I know you cant ship shoes to Italy.

I still havent listed them yet.. procrastinating here. :)
