Question about this vintage plastic ring-possibly Bakelite?

Hi everyone! I have this ring which I'm currently investigating, it was originally my aunt's and I'm trying to learn more about it. It is red plastic and definitely vintage, probably circa the 50s or perhaps earlier, she couldn't really supply me with much concrete info regarding the exact age...could it be bakelite? I'm not a bakelite expert but there are unique almost white ridges throughout, very subtle but present on the exterior and the underside (at first I thought they might be scratches or damages but they look like they are inherent from the factory). If anyone could supply any info, that would be great!! Thank you!

Have you performed the hot water test to see what type of plastic it is? In your fourth photo, the lines look like wear/patina, but I am far from a bakelite expert. Have you gently tried to clean it or wipe it to see if the marks are scuffs that come off? The bakelite piece I had once did not show white underneath when scuffed...
