Question about zippers

Hello everyone!
I have a question about zippers....
I have a dress which I belive is 60's. Label is Teal Traina. I can post pictures if needed.
The back zip is metal, but there are zips on the sleeves, near the wrists, and these zips are plastic.
Was it common to 'mix' zippers, or is it likely that the wrist zips were added at a later date?
Thanks in advance!

Hmm...

There were nylon zippers in the later 60s....

Now, the zippers on the wrists could be replacements, but here is a crazy thought...nylon zippers could be made to match a fabric color more closely than metal could and in far more color variety/precision. So maybe because the other zippers were designed to be more visible they were nylon. I really don't have the foggiest, but it sounds like a halfway answer...

or perhaps it's a fabric thing? if the fabric needed the rigidity of a metal zipper for the longer back zip (i.e. more flexible nylon would twist around in a lighter fabric) they may combine the two?

not sure either really, but would love to see it!

I had an early 60s Teal Traina that did that, too. And the zips were original. So the combination of metal and nylon may also be a transitional thing, with the manufacturer taking advantage of the lighter weight and less conspicous nylon zipper at the wrists for comfort and style.

Thanks for the info!
I think that the explanation of nylon zips matching fabric better is right- you can hardly see the ones on the wrist, as the plastic is the same colour as the fabric.
