Question on eras for 1 coat and 1 dress

Hi Guys

So I went to the local thrift store last weekend to see if I could scare up some affordable business casual clothing for the changing season and aside from some nice sweaters, sweater vests, and a good midi skirt I found two (possible) little vintage treasures. I do have some questions about them that I am hoping the awesome folks of the VFG are able to answer.

1. The first thing I found was this 100% wool (according to the care label) Evan Picone coat. From the shoulder pads (not really visible in the photos I'm afraid) I'm guessing 80's - am I in the right decade? Also - it looks very columnar in shape - would this have ever been styled with a belt in the middle or did I possibly buy a gentleman's coat? It doesn't bother me if the answer is yes but I am curious.

2. I went in looking for winter clothes and wound up stumbling across this terribly cute, and rather cheap little summer dress. When I got back home I saw that the label looked a little older (Penneys Hawaii) so I looked it up online and I got some results on etsy, pinterest, etc. for what looks like link removed the though as you can see from the photos it appears to be a tad longer in length (in all fairness though I am fairly tall which might be skewing the proportions a tad). The dress is identified as being from the 60's or 70's. Is it possible mine is vintage and was cut down or does it look more like a reproduction? I'm happy with either. just curious.

It's a little difficult to see your photos and labels - could you try to make them a little sharper/clearer? I checked the VFG Label Resource and we have a label from a 1970's men's Aloha Shirt that is the same as the label in your dress:

I live in Hawaii and I know that Penney's closed their stores here some time ago. Goggling, I found it was in 2002. I think your dress is vintage and was either a shorter version of the one that you found online or it was shortened. It looks like there is quite a bit of care information on your dress and that would put it in the 1970's (or later.) If you can get that label in focus we can help you further.

I can't see your coat well enough to give it a date. Does it have any other labels in it? It looks like a nice warm coat and therefore a good find for you!
