Hi there!

I acquired a beautiful rabbit fur dyed bomber jacket. The latches were closing fine util yesterday when one the last one by the waist broke out of its slot. I am not sure if it can be repaired, its an old latch. Do you have any suggestions its on my Etsy store and not sure if I should sell it? I listed the issue but wanted s econ opinion?

Pics attached thank you!

That is a fabulous jacket!

I have a somewhat older fur jacket that came with a broken closure - one of the rings had broken completely. I bought modern fur clasps, which look slightly different but do the same job, and after some trying, managed to get the broken one out of it's slot and sewed a new one it. It was a first to me and I found it tricky, though I am good sewer, getting the broken one out and somehow sewing the new one in. My fur has longer, wavy hair, which did not help either since it was getting in the way when sewing, but it now also covers up all repairs! You can sell it as it is, and if you dislose the damage then it's up to the buyer. If you feel confident you could do the replacement, I'd say do it, the closures are not expensive and not every buyer might be confident to do it themselves.

Hi Karin!
Thank you for your reply and your compliment!-ugh I can't sew by any means-I do have it listed with the broken clasp and will list as is with the hopes someone can maybe alter it themselves. I also may tale to a good tailor that I know to see, but the clasp snapped at the top and the other part is still inside the slot. Fingers crossed!
