Rayon Dresses

Hi,

Just had a question with regard to the best way to remove creases from rayon, I have a few 40s dresses purchased this week that are a little creased, would you steam, but I have heard this may leave water marks on the rayon.

Many thanks.

are they rayon crepe? if not, steaming is best, and rayon steams like a dream. i've never gotten water marks on any of them. unless your steamer spits, or they're crepe, there's nothing to worry about.

Hi,

Thanks for the super fast reply - they are all rayon, and so pretty and such a bargain! I usually only buy rayon dresses in pristine condition, but could not pass these up. I have managed to very gently iron crepe before without problems, but did not want to mark these, so will gently steam them.

This place is a wealth of information.

Look forward to more posts.

you're welcome :)

rayon is a fiber and crepe is a weave, so you can have a rayon crepe, or a silk crepe, or even a poly crepe. or rayon that's a flat weave. i'm glad you're careful, gently ironing your crepe pieces. it is prone to iron shine.

since they're a flat weave, i'm assuming, you don't have to worry about steaming them at all. it's fun to steam rayon, because the wrinkles practically fall right out.
