Following my hasty recent purchases from a sale!?"£$ I have a query for you folks, does rayon dye......at all, well, badly, not at all????

anyone have any experience???

thanks

lve bought that lovely brown dress from er......she looks down her long list!!!...no note made dang....dark brown rayon with streak across the front, lovely dress, must be able to do something..specially if fits....worth it for the buttons!!! LOL..lve had fun anyhow.....and can always resell...

I think if you used a cold water dye it might be worth a careful go. I think I got a bit adventurous and could work - it's so long ago now I can't even remember what I did!

Rayon takes dye beautifully but there IS the shrinkage factor.
Not all rayons are ruined with water however. I just hand washed a 40s rayon faille dress which shrank up as soon as the water hit it but relaxed back to shape when dry with steaming.
I always wash and rinse garments before dying them because the surface dust and dirt will affect how evenly the dye is absorbed. I dye right after a thourough rinse and squeeze dry in a towel while the fibers are still damp.
If you don't have much money in the dress and it is not wearable as is I would try it. I'm one for experimenting if the loss would not be too risky.

thanks, l shall investigate dyes before my parcels arrive from yardsale stateside!! l also though a smattering of quality rhinestones applied with some fabric glues, OR tiny stiched on glitter may lfatter the item? as it has diamante accents...
IF it fits!!!

thanks carrie, l'm quite excited about it, l'm sure l'll comeup with something, just to darken it a tad, but when l see it in the flesh will be ebtter, l fell in love with a lot of things this time, more for me than to sell on. Lats time was very succesfull, as l sold most of it on, this time much is for me and my daughter. Did you have some buys too!?
