Real fur coat: Identify type of fur

Hi there,

That's muskrat that was cut and crafted to look like ribbed mink and it dates to the 80s.
 
I would’ve never guessed! It totally fooled me!

They did pretty good making it look like mink. The furrier would have been complimented :)

The photo of the back of the jacket is very good for identification purposes because it shows the coloration of the guard hair as well as the underfur.

Below is a picture of muskrat fur pelts being offered by a fur pelt supplier on eBay. While the pelts within carnoske's jacket have been cut and crafted back together to look like ribbed mink, I can see the guard hair coloration and the whitish/gray, and darker gray underfur that is present in muskrat.
I can best see the whitish/gray underfur along the edges of the muskrat fur pelts best and I can see the whitish/gray underfur on top of the shoulders and collar of the jacket best.
