Really confused... 80s? 80s doing 60s/50s?

Hi everyone,

Ok, for some reason, I just couldn't leave this dress! Here are the things that make me think it's 50s60s. Pinked seams, weird boning (see pics), old lace & stiff crinoline on the inside of bust & matching colored zipper. What REALLY throws me is the material of the bottom half. The skirt feels newer???? And the style sort of throws me too... help!!!!!!!

*here is the "boning" I was talking about, it's these long wired/stiff white things along the bodice of the dress*

(mind you, the dress is hanging upside down at this point, which is why they're "hanging" out, normally they'd be lying flat against the body)

Any help is SUPER appreciated!!!

Yea, that boning looks 50s style. Any tags in it??

Nothing. Not ONE tag! I went over and over and over the dress! That's when I noticed the bust had some hidden white crinoline in it. I mean the top just screams 50s to me, but the skirt doesn't at all.

There were pencil skirts in the 40s and 50s, that is for sure. You may just be used to seeing full skirts with crinolines. But I would expect to see some darting at the top if so. But maybe we can't see that because of the top. But, based on what Jonathan said last time that the bodice part was straight acrossed and not peaked over the breasts, I would say that it was early 60s like your black dress you had. If that is true, it would be 60/61.

Cumulative/retentive knowledge in action tonight!!

:wow:
