I love this dress, but have no idea what to say about it. It has a union label, and I am thinking 70's, but what is it trying to say???
The front ties together, so i am not sure how to measure this bust. What is that called?
Keywords would be greatly appreciated!!

the union label that has the round seal, I have seen in clothing up through the early 80s in better made things. The one with the sewing machine on it, I have seen no later than the 60s/70s cusp.

That is a really intriguing dress and i am not sure really how to describe it either. The flowers mixed in with the stripes remind me of a luxe upholstery fabroc.

It definitely has that 70's Gunne Sax feel - search 'vintage gunne sax dress' on Ebay & you'll see what I mean :)

Here's what I see - hippie, prairie, boho, puffed sleeve... is that smocking around the bodice? Maybe 'corset style bodice', although that's a bit of a stretch. No pun intended!

The fabric looks like it was inspired by vintage wallpaper.

To measure the bust, I'd lay the dress on a table, tie the ties like you show in the 1st pic and measure - maybe giving a range (i.e., 'Bust: 34" - 36" ').

Hope some/any of that helps!

Would that be an Edwardian look, or am I talking through my...whatever?

I'm no expert, but it has that early 1900's look, the one many Gunne's have.

Did I mention I wasn't an expert?

see that is it!! I keep looking at it going... geez, that looks Edwardian to me. I think it is the print. It just has that feel.

I love it, but I would look like a sausage in it........... you never sausage a chubby girl in a dress!!!

Did someone mention brown striped Edwardian???

On your dress, polyesterchester, that sort of stripe is known as a Regency stripe over here in UK - though I have never seen one in brown before.
I've no idea of a date for it though, sorry!

Hm - you might want to mention that it'd be good for plays, re-enactments, costumes . . . Love the pattern - very unusual and eye catching.

Good luck! :)

A catchy line for you........

"Can't decide what era you like the best? Or you like them all. Then this little number is the ticket for you. "

I agree Chris, we learn something new on this board everyday.
