Red cone heel shoes - earlier than 80\'s?

I can't find a reference to a heel tip that is round like this, the closest I come to it several books calling the heel shape 'cone' from the 80's trend but I don't know if this could be applied to the same heel without this style tip.
I wondered if these shoes might be earlier as the label size and style doesn't seem modern enough to me, so I wondered could they be late 70's?

I'd put them a little later into the '80s - more about '87-89. Early '80s shoes have pointier toes.

The heel tip is funny, it's smaller than the heel it's on so I wonder if it was a replacement for the original? Is it metal or rubber? I used to really go through heels in shoes of this era, in fact they'd often wear down a bit before I got them to the repairer, making my shoes a little lopsided.

These were made in Britain. In NYC in the early 80s they had this heel and weren't a narrower toe. Not the open-toed shoe then. Maybe it was different in Europe then... in NYC we were seeing a bunch of these shoes in the early 80s coming in from Brazil.

Oh, where's Jonathan... he will know for sure!

Cone heel refers to the ice cream cone shaped heels, of which these are a version -- I have seen them referred to as pyramid heels. At any rate, they were introduced at the VERY end of the 1970s - like 1979. They are European in origin, I think I have seen a pair of Maude Frizons with that heel from 1979. They are at their height of popularity in the early 80s - 80-83 and judging by the open round toe I would put these early - like about 1980. The pointed toe is in at the same time as rounded, open toe styles, and takes over by 82.

Wow. My memory for shopping is still going strong. ha ha. Thanks, Jonathan!

I was not into fashion much in the 70s & 80s--except for shoes! I was Imelda Marcos the Second..... I would have put these in the early 80s as well. Glad my mind is not failing too much!

Jonathan, the ones I wore were the open, round toe. Pointy ones were for a close toe (high heel) then. Later in the 80s it changed. We're talking 82/83. Took my first commission check out and bought 4 pairs of these kinds of shoes.

Like this - I remember because I hated that part of the shoe. It felt like it was cutting into sides of my feet and I also tore out the big toe of my nylons on both feet by end of school day. I don't think they were a good fit because feet kept slipping forward and putting all kinds of pressure on the nylon.

I am really giggling remembering this day now. My two big toes sticking out of nylons all afternoon. Last bell was quite a relief!

Spectrum I believe these tips are complete (i.e. no cover) as they are painted metal as new steel tips are and I can't see why they would paint something that was going to be covered.
