red tissue

I run from colored tissue - in fact, I only use tissue to cushion beads, buttons and the like - bubble wrap if necessary. I wrap my items in gusseted plastic.

We use two colours of tissue: royal blue (it's the shop colour) but when it rains we go for the cream acid-free tissue paper. I once had a customer buy something and it got wet on the way home in the bag - and ran on the cute '50s print top she had bought. Never again!

Now we're going one further and I'm looking into getting recycled brown paper on a big roll, so we can wrap packages with string.

No colored tissue at our house! For that very reason.

When I could get acid free locally, I used that for shipipng. But I can't get it now. So I use plain white.

Pray tell, what is gusseted plastic?

I only use white tissue for sales items. I also use clear white plastic bags that almost all garments, shoes, bags - even boots will fit into & I wish I could remember where I got them. I "think" from a shipping supply store on eBay. They're the greatest!

Most clothing goes in the tissue, in the bag, and in the box or envelope. I make sure the plastic is taped tightly in case of rain.

Funny to read this thread. I was just packing some things up & realized my primary concern is always to keep it dry.

I use some colored tissues, but I also wrap in plastic and seal the items up well. I figure if something pierces the box, the bag, and the tissue, it's likely ruined the item inside, too.

I do keep the colored tissue to domestic shipping, and never around a white item, just in case.

i want to come shop at your shop! it would really please me to have my purchase wrapped up in brown paper (especially recycled!) and tied with string.

Thanks Joan! That's the kind of feedback I like: nice to see that others appreciate an old fashioned aesthetic.

Next on the list, I'm going to see what I can do about turning Circa carbon neutral. I'm sure it won't be too hard to make my business completely environmentally friendly.

I went to a vintage store where the clerk was trying to make her carbon footprint smaller....she stopped showering and using soap. :spin:
