Removing ink...

Hollis mentioned in her workshop that you can get ink out of leather with carnuba wax..

However, how does one get it out of silk? I have a silk suit that came back from the drycleaners with a "Sorry, we need more time" tag on it. Why they didn't instruct me to leave it longer versus coming back...who knows.

Does any one have any ideas? Its not spilled ink, just a long pen mark

Chris, I use Lestoil for all ink spots, however you may want to try it on a similar material because it may spot just in one area.

What about that Mr. Clean dry eraser?

I should mention its dry clean only and has a lining that i think has some rayon in it. I had a miniskirt same maker/same material where the skirt shrunk but the lining didn't when washed accidentally

Do you still have it? Maybe you could test on it.

Maybe we should keep different materials that we have ruined so we can test on them!:puzzled:

Yes. I still have it. it is my own personal clothing...a Jones New York silk suit that I got an ink mark on in my sales job days. dropped the pen and it made a nice line. it is not a good one for spot cleaning, as the water mark, etc will stay until its dry cleaned. I really want to revive this and wear it again someday as it is a nice suit. I guess i could try lestoil than woolite....but i am very hesitant. wondering if the dry cleaner really knows..just isn't bothering

Carbona Stain Devils for ink. I've had GREAT results with it for ballpoint ink. You can't be afraid to get the fabric wet though, as it must be rinsed out - so the fabric must be colorfast. Then it's likely there'll be water marks, which can be finessed out... it just gets time consuming!

I just hope the dry cleaner didn't set the mark in there for good. Oh, my kingdom (such as it is) for a really good dry cleaner!

:)

i know the feeling. there is only one dry cleaner in town. i can go out a ways...half hour, 45 minutes, etc, to more densely populated areas but the more business=more skilled doesn't always add up. However, they are more apt to "make it right" when there is much more competition out there (more places to take business elsewhere)
