Restringing a Bakelite Cherries Brooch?

Hi I'd appreciate your advice on this. I recently purchased this brooch which I absolutely adore but I really must do something about the strings - two of the cherries have already been lost before I bought it, and the remaining four are so precariously attached I can't really wear it!

I was hoping a VFG member may offer such a repair service? I'm hoping for someone in the UK/Europe. Otherwise would anyone be able to advise me how I could repair this sympathetically? I have seen a blog using garden wire but was hoping for something better. Thank you!

Hopefully someone in the UK/Europe will know about someone who can repair this for you. I live in Hawaii and had a similar problem - actually two of the cherries on my brooch had come off and the string was pretty weak. I sent mine to Rhinestone Rosie in Seattle, WA and she did a great job! Obviously it would be less expensive in terms of shipping for you if you can find someone closer, but if you cannot I highly recommend her work. I would not recommend doing it yourself, Garden wire is not the same as the waxed string on the original and will ruin the value of the piece - and the look.

Thanks for the suggestion and I love your brooch! Yup that's why I said I didn't want to use garden wire. I'm not hugely worried about re-sale value (I only paid £15 for it and have no intention to sell) but I want to be sympathetic to it because they are such lovely brooches. Funnily enough Rhinestone Rosie is the only seller who came up in my internet search! But two lots of international postage fees are fairly hefty I'm afraid (especially if I want to insure it!) I agree she did excellent work; it looks cracking now!

If you don't find anyone who's experienced Cosmicstar I would be willing to do this for you. I'm in England. I haven't repaired one of these before, but I have repaired jewellery and have worked with wax (and have the necessary bits to do this).
