Are these 50s? What are they exactly (undergarment? bloomers? shorts?)

Tag reads:

hand wash warm,
no bleach,
drip dry
cool iron only

all nylon
Malco
Modes
N24 USA
Small

Also the tag is on the outside back of the garment (like exposed)

Again used them in a shoot (well a few shoots LOL) and just want to make sure they are 50s like I have been saying.

Why is the tag on the outside?
I also have a green cotton pair of these and a friend of mine who is a stylist had a lavender pair...they don't seem rare I just don't know what they are.

They are the shorts on the girl at the bottom by the fountain.

I will have to shoot the tag tomorrow I have them at my studio. The tag has like a paper-ish feel to it. Are they modern? what are they?

Can you attach a photo of the label or care label and perhaps one of the interior seams? This piece doesn't look particularly old to me but it's so difficult to say from these images. A shot of the label and construction will definitely help. ;)

I just googled and I think they are called rhumba panties/bloomers and it looks like they were most heavily made in the 80s? but they do have modern ones still being made! Yah learn something new everyday :) Or I do at least lol

thanks ladies

Modern care labels started in 1983 but care labels were mandated in the US in 1971. I googled "Malco Mode Shorts" and found they are called rhumba panties/bloomers, too. Malco Modes is still in business. If you show the tag and the inside constuction we can probably narrow it down for you but early '80's is very likely.

I will pick them up and shoot the tag and construction tomorrow! This is a great resource and I am in awwwe of the expertise here!

Agree with the others; Malco Modes are still making them. MM have been around for a long time but I suspect yours are modern. They're designed to be worn under full dancing skirts, and so look good when you see a flash of them, eg square dancing, rock and roll dancing etc. The come in lots of colours.

Also referred to as "cheaters" in the swing dance crowd. Still made today, so hard to say when they're from.....the ones I've had were 60s/70s.
