Reversible cape, always think of erte, but would like to know more...

Hello,

I have this cape: black velvet field with metallic swirls and multi color edging inside the fur edging. Reverse side is all silver metallic fabric with black swirls. I have a few more photos, if needed. There are no labels or anything indicating who, where, when, etc. Thanks for any help! Brenda

I think the second way around you have it is the right way - lame' on the outside. It's stunning! Very art deco, I would date as 1920s opera cape.

I agree, the lame is probably the outside, the black velvet is the lining, which is soft against your skin and won't snag the beaded dress below. This is a late 20s evening wrap, to be worn over a beaded evening dress.
