Hello,

What is a ribbon dress.. I was told by a lady that she was pretty sure this was one.

If this isnt then what is it callled? its weaved like a basket but kinda loose so holey?

I think it is acetate as when i put a drop of water on it the material turned kinda sticky like.... it has a waist jacket/bolero the jacket is a little longer than a bolero but isabout 2 inches short of the waist.

if this is a ribbon dress or whatever it is is it collectable/valuable?

thank you all again!

Iffer

Yes, it is a ribbon dress....they function a bit like a knit, but may have been crochet(?). I THINK their heyday was in the 50s. EXPERTS?

I recently sold a ribbon weave coat with mink collar, which I understand was once likely paired with a matching dress. 1960's in this case:

I showed it with the wild print to make it eye-catching; I would prefer it with the simple matching ribbon weave dress. :)

Yours does seem a bit earlier than mine. Yes, they are desirable items.

Thank you....

So would it be beneficial to pay the redicilous "feature" fee.... or do you think it will be found with out it on ebay?

thank you ladies.. yeas I knew this one was 50s lol,,,,first time i didnt need date help... its too classic for me to mess this one up lol

Hi Jennifer. I think it will be found on eBay under 50s ribbon dress without spending the $$ on a feature. Does it stretch? It has the potential, with a stuffed bra, to be pin-up or almost bombshell if it does... Subtle bombshell because of the color. And Julie ... what a coat!
