RIP Don Knotts and Darren MCGavin

So sad - but a good innings for both of them I suppose.
The thing about Darren McGavin getting of his painting ladder, walking into the studios and getting himself a part is just how I imagined showbiz as I kid!

I was SO sad to hear of this--I grew up watching the Andy Griffith show, gettng frustrated over Barney's antics! And Darren McGavin was one of my favorites--my family loved "Night Stalker." My husband had a bit part in "The Natural" and met McGavin--said he was one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to know--down to earth, and what you saw on screen was what you got with him. Sad, the entertainment industry has lost so many of the good ones over the last year--Anne Bancroft, Shelley Winters, now these two.....

That part of the Oscars where they show all the stars that passed in the last year will probably bring up a face or two that I didn't know passed. The saddest one was the year Gene Kelly died and at the very end of it, they showed the part of Singin' In the Rain where after he gives the police officer the umbrella, he walks off into the distance, and waves goodbye.

Moira Shearer, star of The Red Shoes, died at the end of January as well.
