Roger Vivier made in japan?

Hello!
I purchased these adorable heels from an Estate, they used to belong to a woman who moved from japan to California in the mid 60's, everything in her home was beautiful, well taken care of and it seemed like everything in her house came from her trips back and fourth from japan throughout the rest of her life. She had a few designer items, but these shoes in particular were stamped as made in Japan, I've never seen Roger Vivier made in Japan, does anyone know anything about this, or why they would have that stamp?
Thank you for your time!

They must have licensed out the manufacture to a Japanese company for retail there. Its not unheard of, even among the best names. If it made business sense, they did it.

I have run across two pairs of these before and I did read a small snippet about it somewhere - probably Women's Wear Daily... Vivier had a line produced in Japan primarily for the Asian market for a very short period of time 1967-68ish.

Hi Melanie,

that's where we were stumped, this woman had some items from the 80's but majority of all her shoes were no older than the late 70's , all of her newer shoes were Asian styled flip flops or more comfortable flat shoes, but these had an 80's look to them. Hopefully these photos will help!

You might be right Melanie - I didn't look at the pics up close - they could be later. I can't remember the year or two Vivier had that contract in Japan, I thought it was late 60s from the two pairs I saw, but its been a while.
