Royal India Tailors

This cape is vintage I believe maybe the 50's or 60's? I'm trying to determine the type of material it was made of, possibly a vicuna and/or alpaca blend? It has a brushed nap, that lifts when brushed in the opposite direction, very soft. I'm pretty sure it's not camel hair or wool, both tend to "bite" me if I touch either one, this feels like a cloud (smile). It has Royal India Tailors with the address 51-52 Haiphong Rd. Kowloon Hong Kong. The lining has quilting along the top and sides. The finishing is very nice. The color is a rich caramel shade, not as washed out as my photos are. Is there a way to find out what type of material this could have been made of? I think this tailor shop is still in business. Thanks in advance for any help :D

Hi Sheila, I vote cashmere.

To date between '50s and '60s, it would be helpful to be able to see the garment in full but from what I can see, I'm leaning towards '60s. You can see that it's beautifully made, with great attention to detail.

Hope these photos can help place a date on this cape thanks
