Rug/Tapestry Vest - Not even sure...Help!

So, I found this AMAZING vest- However, I can not seem to find any information about it! It's got like 'slits' in the bottom sides...and it's thick, almost like a rug. It's got a large bra hook in the front with two buttons and the inside is a slight lighter colour then the outside - but same pattern.

I'm guessing era is 70's? But as for fabric, or style or origin, even price.. i have nooo clue. thanks guys - you've been a fabulous help!
 
it kinda looks knit from the picture, can you take a real close up of the fabric itself, and we can tell better.

what does the label say?

Yup, that's what it is. I have one, though not in the same pattern, of course. Surprised yours doesn't have a label. These tend to be of very nice quality. And I'd agree yours is 70s.

I'll post mine if I can find the pictures!
