Sam & Libby - info?

Hi, awhile back I found a huge lot of Sam & Libby ballet flats in a larger size (12B) in loads of different colors.

One of my customers didn't know that Sam & Libby made flats that size and was really happy to snatch up four pairs.

I tried really hard to find information on when the Sam & Libby brand name started and subsequently, what date it changed hands to Nine West. I found that it changed hands from Sam Edelson in the mid 90's but I'm still wondering about the start date and also the largest size they made their flats? I was shopping at lunch today and found a size 14!

I checked the label resource up top and I don't see Sam & Libby listed there. Is there an alternate resource for shoes?

Thanks to all!

Sam and Libby I beleive started in the eary 80's... Mid range junior label..... I dont think they were made any earlier than that....

Sam Edelman came from a family that owned tanneries and retailed exotic skins. In 1985 he went into business with his wife Libby to develop a shoe division for Esprit. In 1988 they launched their own label Sam & Libby and their first product was their biggest succes -- ballet flats. Everything they did after that was never as successful and in 1996 they sold the rights to their trademarks and trade names. I don't know if the label was continued after 1996 or not but Sam and Libby were no longer in charge, so that label may have only been around from 1988 to 1996.
