Scarf Opinion

I am up in the air about the scarf. to me the pink and gray almost suggest a 1930s colorway, but wonder if it is more on target with the 50s or 40s. to me, it appears to be silk. has a few faint spots and am assessing whether it would have some appeal to handwash. there are three "rows" or reapeats of these squiggle and whatever viney design, and then in the center it is only the little pink with gray center triangles

I'm never sure about handwashing old silk items that have
colour to them. I had some roses run once on a scarf. Due to the thinness of the silk, I would guess that it is earlier than 50s (40s?)

it has me stumped too. when i first saw it i thought 40s, but then i kept thinking about rose and gray 30s fiestaware so thought 30s, but the design seems later than 30s. so hopefully someone will have a better guess. I figured a spotclean with vinegar or woolite may be the gentlest thing without immersing the whole thing in water. i am sure one could still wear it with the stain, as it is light and the scarf would obviously not be worn totally flat, but folded/gathered/tied
 
A few years ago, Consumer Reports did their usual product testing for handwashing garments and determined that the original green Palmolive dishwashing liquid was better than Woolite. That's what I've been using ever since.
