My sister who recently passed away had a Schiaparelli that I need to sell as I lost my job and am having a difficult time finding something full time.

Where could I get an honest price and place to sell this item except ebay? or would you experts recommend ebay? I am not experienced at this and am clueless!

Thank you for hosting and for any advice and help!

pics here - and thank you !

you're welcome to attach photos directly to your request here~ and they would be the most helpful Full length shot, any pertinent close-up/details, and a tag shot would be great ~

do you have any idea of when she purchased it? or where?

vintagemerchant, thank you so much! I have more pics but I guess I can only add one.

I am not sure where she purchased it, she lived overseas and traveled for awhile.

I can email more pics. Thanks again, Kim

Hello again, Wonderinginnh

i cut and pasted this from a thread we've had earlier about attaching photos:

For uploading pictures in to your posts do the following. Say that your image is www.members.aol.com/freda/cashmere.jpg (needs to be hosted by your photo web host like photobucket.com)...

Simply prefix that with this
img src=http://

and put this < at the very beginning of the whole thing and this > at the end.

And hey presto – it loads. Be sure to leave one clear space between the img and src

Note: Be sure to acquaint yourself with the Board Rules at top of the forums to see what is allowed. Thanks! Happy chatting!

that way you can attach more than one ~

Hi,

Lovely. It does not look like a dress, it looks like perhaps part a pegnoir or lounging set. Like a robe that had a matching gown...or is the gown there underneath? Is it 1950" 1970's? Is it nylon? It is hard to see the label, but it looks quite large and more like a hat label than lingerie label that Schiaparelli used. I cannot tell much from just the 1 photo. It is very pretty.

It does appear to be a 1950s nylon peignoir, but it could be silk, I can't tell from photos. If the label is genuine, ( I just can't tell form a photo) this would date from the later years when Schiaparelli had licensed her name and had little to do with the designs. Often these later pieces are general, standard ready-to-wear designs that are really only distinguished by the label.

What I am trying to say is that the big dollar pieces from this designer come from her Paris years before WWII. The 1950s pieces were mass manufactured, and while they do have value, it is not major. This would be 'worth' what any similar peignoir of the period would be worth plus a small premium for the label. So if you search ebay and the general internet to get a sense of value, look at 50s peignoirs and add a bit rather than 1930s couture museum pieces.

thank you

Hollis, and all of you,

thank you so much for the info - I sincerely appreciate it. I think you are right, it is a pegnoir, nylon and I'm just not sure about the label, it may have been sewed on, but am clueless in this regard. But I do have the info in which to start my search and have learned so much from this site. This is what is so wonderful about the internet, the learning and the experience in dealing with sites and people like you all.

Thank you so much again, for hosting and your time, I will explain your knowledge to my sister in my prayers,
Kim

Hi Gail,

nice to meet you - I'm from Rockingham - near the seacoast. Yes, its amazing how many times I have said to myself that my sister would know the answer to that, or how many times I wished I could have asked her advice on something; and its always something creative!

thanks, maybe after learning so much here, I won't sell it...thanks and take care!
