Hello everybody, my name is Chara and i'm gonna be brutally honest with you guys. When i saw this jacket at the thrift shop, i had to buy it immediately ! I also saw the schiaparelli labels on your site and unfortunately mine doesn't match with anyone, so i guess this jacket is a fake :( (and i'm a fool ). I would appreciate your help and advices in this "jacket" matter, thank you

Schiaparelli licensed her name for a line that debuted after her atelier closed in 1954, and a signature label like the one in your jacket was used. She was heavily involved with the line at first, but gave up overseeing what was produced under her name well before she died in 1973. I have never been able to find out when the licensed line ended, but I have never found anything that dated much beyond the mid 1970s, that is, until the label was revived in 2012.

I can't tell you whether it's a fake or not, but wanted to mention that it's a nice jacket, good quality and I would date to the late '70s so it's later than the Schiap lived but is not perhaps beyond the realms of possibility that it is aligned to her brand.

If you look at how the label is attached it might help: if it's machine sewn onto the lining nicely and well placed it could be true. Also look for signs that it might have been unpicked from another garment (small needle pricks, tiny loose threads).

This is not the sort of garment that fakers like to make, which is also another point in its favour.

Circa Vintage thanks for all the feedback. I think this jacket has some quality, the thread on the label with the name, is soft and shiny. I'm not much of a tailor but it looks like the symmetry of the label is good , how it's placed and how it's sewed. I actually found one loose thread, just one.But it happens ,that i know pretty well how the ladies who run the store treat the clothes there. I found this on the floor next to a spider's nest :(
