Schiaparelli?

Hello Everyone.
Another mystery here...... got this great jacket with no label, couturier made, silk moirer lining, hand beaded wool crepe. A bead fell off and when I picked it up I noticed a signature on the back, F. L.. I looked under the other and found the round one had a signature too, I think it's M.L.. could these possibly stand for Francois Lesage/ Maison Lesage? Could this be a Schiaparelli? It's a long shot I know, but anyone out there have any info?
Thanks

Do you have a picture?

I could be totally of, but if its an individual bead, I would venture to guess it was something having to do with the bead maker rather than the maker of the jacket. But that's just me.

Louise, can you shrink your pics a bit? They're a little large and will load slow for those who don't have high speed internet service.

I have seen that mark on jet beads on a fake ca 1895 Worth dress I had. Very high quality, but a fake nonetheless.

Is there anything else that makes you think Schiaparelli? Have you seen any examples attributed to her of a similar one?

Thanks for the info Hollis! I've never seen signed beads before. I'm looking for pics of this design in all my Schiaparelli books, but to no avail. It just seems like something of her whimsy...do you think your beads were from the house of Lesage? I know the house was own by Worth at one point.... I didn't know they made fakes back then! I'm flying on a wish, I know Lesage did work for Shiaparelli and it's definatly 40's... Anyhoo....Thanks again

It is an interesting evening jacket which probably had a matching gown. I can see the reference that Ang makes to the 'aesthetic' or design elements in the beading but I'm not so sure it applies to the style of the jacket itself. Most of the Elsa Schiaparelli fashion items we see in collections generally have something very unique about them.

I know nothing about fake Lesage buttons but other than getting an opinion from a museum or international auction house, you could try contacting the Lesage company direct.
