Scott McClintock: what do you think?

I have this lovely (non-vintage) Scott McClintock dress that makes me wonder:

as you can see on the first picture, the dress gradually becomes slightly yellowish below. So, is this supposed to be like that, or is it just plain dirty? :BAGUSE:

Thanks in advance for any input!

It looks like it is yellowed from storage. Maybe the top half of the dress was in a dry cleaner bag that didn't fall the whole length of it?

good theories.. and it could have happened by either way, that almost distinct line does look like a dry cleaning bag kinda, from the pictures.

is it a fabric that can washed in oxy or even be dyed?

Thank you all for your answers,
the reason I asked is that the yellowing appears so gradually, it almost seemed part of the design...

Maybe the gradualness (is that a word?) shows better in the next picture:

The care-label says this dress can be dry cleaned only, but since it is a 100% acetate, and was in a horrible state when I picked it up, I went ahead and cleaned it myself anyway. The dress looked as if someone had poured several cups of tea over it, all covered in irregular brown spots.
Ya think I should risk some more and try some oxy on it?
