Scotty was \"beamed up\" and futuristic fashion chat
James Doohan, best known as "Scotty" on Star Trek passed away. He was 85 years old.
Oddly enough, his passing turned my mind towards fashion.
According to the original Star Trek, hundreds of years from now, women would be wearing minidresses and large geometric earrings. This differed of course if you were not an earthling and wore "goddess style" gowns which all ladies on other planets prefer. (green hair optional). Especially to invoke a culture stuck back in time. Very in tune with what had been currently going on in the fashion world concurrently with the show. I am not sure how the slightly "pajama with insignia" related for men, unless this was showing a streamlined fashion influence.
In my workshop about Joe Famolare in August, interestingly enough, you will learn folks in centuries down the road prefer to wear his shoes on alien worlds (the wardrobe folks for Star Trek: The Next Generation frequently used the company's later than platform era clog shoes for futuristic humanlike alien types) That's not why i picked the subject, but just thought it was an interesting tidbit.
