Good morning,
I have 3 shirts, 2 pairs of overalls, and one pair of pants as shown in the attached photos.
All new with tags. I am seeking history/date and where it would be best to sell them for the highest value. I have very little experience with ebay.
I have seen from this forum that work wear is highly sought in Japan.
One local person in RI begged me to sell one shirt to them for $300 so that got me to thinking .
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Good morning!

If you can unfold the overalls to show the details and labels, it would be easier to date them. Also, if you haven't yet checked the Sears entry in our Label Resource, we may already have labels for your items posted and dated. If we don't yet have these labels, we would love to add them! You can post your label images here - please follow the guidelines at the top of the thread.

My first impression of the shirt collars (narrow with a slight curve) is 1940s, so I pulled out a 1941 Sears catalog and snapped these photos of Hercules work wear.

I'm out the door in a bit, but if you can post more photos, when I get home this evening I will peruse my other Sears catalogs.

I know workwear in any condition is HOT, so all I can say is: take your time and do your research.

Lastly, per our Forum rules we do not offer valuations.

Thank you for your reply! I will be sure to upload all the labels I have that are not in the file. I took a quick look, and I do not think you have any of the ones I have. Although, I still do not know dates, so maybe I should wait to see if you can date them before I upload the labels. The overalls do not have any labels inside, just what I would call "stickers" or a huge sewn on label.
As requested here are full photos of each. I am not seeking a value from anyone, just history, and direction on if anyone had any luck selling something similar and if so, where/how? If you know anyone, other than Antiques Roadshow, lol, who can determine the value. They will be in Littleton, CO this year, so you just may see me on there!
Thank you for any help at all! Oh, the power of the internet!!

Hi @Fosterliz -

Seeing the inner neck labels on the shirts will offer more useful clues, although I'm still leaning into 1940s on dating.

I can't see the label or tell the fabric content on the beige pants, but cuffed work pants were in the Hercules line in the 1940s through the 1950s.

The hickory striped overalls are 1940s. Double Duty was a short-lived budget work wear line.

The plain blue overalls are later - that boxed Sears logo was used 1960s-1970s. These look like their mid-late 1970s 50-50 poly-cotton blend. Check the care label to confirm.

As far as where best to sell these items... There are VFG members who have far more experience in selling this genre of vintage than I do - hopefully, they will weigh in with guidance. Good luck!

Hi, these are the only 2 labels on the tan, cuffed pants.
20240201_063558.jpg

This yellow label is on the blue chambray shirt.

This red embroidered label is on the tan shirt.

These two labels are on the more smooth tan shirt. This shirt still has the pins in it to hold it folded.

Above are the ONLY two labels on the hickory striped, button fly overalls. There are no washing instructions or fabric content on any of the above pieces.

And this is the label on the denim overalls.
All I can say, thank goodness zippers were born, because these button flys look very cumbersome! Haa!
Thank you for your continued assistance and I do hope that someone can chime in with experience with these items.

IIRC button flies were still a "thing" back in the 80s or 90s. I remember having jeans with them and finding them really annoying.

You may want to post in this group if you are interested in finding the best audience for reselling, although I have to say, as a museum I would want the 1930s/40s items because they are unworn, with labels intact (the denim overalls are much newer). The older items would be a shame to remove the labels and wear them... Maybe you will find a collector who will appreciate their original condition: https://www.facebook.com/groups/VintageWorkwear

Thank you so much. I will look into joining that group. I would like them to go to someone who will appreciate them.
