So the first suit I posted was a Davidow estimated 1950's-60s. Link for the thread on that one is

I believe this 2nd suit may have been from the same owner and I estimate it 1940's-50's , so a bit older I think than the first. Your 2 cents here please for dating it as well as estimated value.

Once again this one seems to be wool tweed and it is an attractive dark rusty salmon like color. Has a side metal zipper (broken,) and hook eye plus 2 snaps closure at waistband.

It is the jacket, skirt and matching fabric belt. Jacket is lined. Skirt is lined to about half way down in back only.

Label at neck states Elise A Runyan, Distinctive Clothes, Chicago. I have not found any information on her label. Recovery Board label in side seam. I am going to let the pictures take it from here for the most part. They show the many details of this suit, in sewing technique and stitching. Buttons pretty much attach same as other suit.
Note the stitching at inside button holes and the many darts both in skirt and especially in jacket. Pleat in front and back of skirt bottom center

That's lovely! That style was great and it stuck around awhile here in the US. With the shoulder emphasis, the tailored details and the belted, but not super fitted body, I'd say 1948 - 1954ish even. The color is oustanding. Usually these suits are taupe, brown, navy, grey - good neutral colors.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. So once again we seem to so far be in agreement that it is later 40s to 50's. I too chose that time period because it was a bit longer straight skirt with the slim longer jacket and belt.

The color is a bit more brilliant in some of the pictures here than in person but as I described it is a dark rusty salmon color so a bit darker than it looks here, but yes, I definitely do say salmon coloring in it and the lining is very evident salmon
I was impressed with the stitch work around the button holes. Now days your often lucky if the seams themselves are fully stitched (LOL) and then this piece has all this detail on pockets etc.

Trying to get a more accurate color and thinking about it now, perhaps CORAL color would describe this for some too whereas I called it a rusty salmon (pretty much the same) This shows that it is toned down some from most of the other pictures, but still a rather unusual color. Just can't see the other color of the tweed in the pics which makes true color capture hard

Oh and padded shoulders. Definitely 40's is what I am dating it now. Tried it on and going to have the zipper replaced, gosh it is soooo flattering. How come they don't make clothing like this now? :)

That's what I sometimes ask myself too :hiya:. Two great reasons for wearing vintage - fit and style - and unusual colors like your suit. Though my first vintage suit doesn't have a belt and is also in other ways different from yours, I keep thinking of mine when I see yours. Mine had me wondering about it's dating too, if it was 40s or 50s. It's just the general shape that seems rather similar to yours. Mine can't be before 1949 because of it's union label, and was thought to be very early 50s when I asked here. It has shoulder pads too though. You are right, these jackets are ever so figure flattering, putting the emphasis on all the right places. I admit, I really like shoulder pads now, when they're paired with a nicely accentuated waist as well.
