Hello - -

Found in a trunk of designer clothes dating mostly 50s - 80s was this hostess or lounging robe. It's a salmon taffeta with salmon piping and a belt that I believe was popular in the 50s and 60s? The buttons also appear to me to be 40s or 50s?

There are no size or fabric tags. The label reads "Marilyn New York." Couldn't find anything online with this label. The zipper pull reads "Jay" about which I also couldn't find information.

Help, please! Any and all comments are most welcome. Thank you in advance.

Lovely...

Curious as to why you are calling it a robe - it looks like a shirt-waist dress to me? or does it open all the way to the hem? Unless I'm confused about the definition of a hostess robe, which I've always found an odd concept. ETA: Just looked up hostess gown, rather than robe, and I think I've answered my own question! I can see how this fits that definition.

Searching the forums I see we've had one or two people ask about this label, but no-one found any further information.

Ruth, it doesn't open all the way to the hem, but it is 52" long - definitely full-length for its size, which is small (bust 34", waist 24").
Many thanks for your and MS' comments!
Mia
