Hello!
This set has perplexed me for years! I bought this set years ago and cannot for the life of me remember who I purchased these from.
Both are labelled "Adele Scott San Diego Beverly Hills", but I haven't been able to find much about this label/ designer. I found some very basic business information: Incorporated: 9/13/1953 Dissolved: 1975.
When I purchased this the seller said it look identical to a costume in Mad Men. Megan Draper's "Codfish Ball" outfit.
While I don't believe this was used in the show I'd love to know more about it and if it could possibly have been an inspiration?
The only other tag besides the maker's label is the Union Tag. I'd love any information anyone has about this label or the set itself! It's been a mystery that's haunted me! Thank you so much!!

As a costume designer, I can say that The MAD MEN costume probably was an actual Adele Scott vintage garment. The show was mostly real vintage (rented or purchased) with occasional builds of original designs or copies of vintage pieces--- At least that what I've read. There are actually tons of real garments in period shows--MRS. MAISEL's nearly all custom-built wardrobe (and her Mom's!) is the rare exception.

I'd love any information anyone has about this label...

I found a couple of small items about Adele Scott in a 1961 article: "The (Adele Scott) store is owned by Mrs. Ethel C. Ramos of San Diego and is named for her daughter, Mrs. Adele Harrington, and Mrs. Harrington's son, Scott, 5...Mrs. Ramos also owns another Adele Scott store in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills." Subsequent ads and references note the store is--or has: "...a specialty shop...Mission Valley's designer shop...one of the most elaborately furnished stores in the (Mission Valley) area...Couturiere fashions...Exclusive women's apparel shop..."
