Found this silk 50's cutie and it's labeled "Miss Serbin"

and all I can think of is the Serbin novelty preppy stuff. Same person or co-incidence? Anyone know or want to wager a guess?

the stripes remind me of ribbon candy ^_^

TIA (again)

The font on the Serbin label is different from this with an open S. Stacey
I don't know as I'm not familiar with either of these. I have seen
just the Serbin label with names after the label, such as "Serbin by XXXX".
Any of the Serbin labels I've seen have also been a bit later than this
dress, mid 60s into 70s.

I would love to know more about both these (and if they are connected)

Sue

Okay heres what I found and I think from the font it is a different label entirely<img src=http://ftp.innernet.net/pcameron/serbin.gif>

thanks so much, Pauline! it's def. a different font and probably not anything to do with the 60's funky serbin. same name, different everything else i guess ^_^

That's a similar dilemma i had when i found a "Jones Petites" that is nothing to do with Jones New York as far as I could tell.

Sometimes "Miss" so and so is a junior line or a daywear line from the manufacturers name after the "miss" but probably another case of no relation.

It really surprised me to see that Serbin has been around since 47 the only serbins I myself have ever found have been from the 70's and knew there was 60's Serbins.

Learn something new every day!

Never too late to make it to the label party. Haha.

Found these cool tags and labels. Definitely a related company/brand. Miss Serbin is definitely part of the Serbin name.

Vintage is so fun!

Hey that's great Jina! Thanks for sharing them. We have Serbin in our label resource, but don't have all the labels you show here.

Can you share more information and photos of the garments these came from, and if so would you be happy for us to add them to our resource?

What we have is here: https://vintagefashionguild.org/label-resource/serbin/

The first two images belong to me.

I appreciate you showing them, Jina -- but please remember that it's important to get permission from image owners before re-posting them.
Oh goodness I’m so sorry I didn’t think about it. I just took a screen shot of images that came up on google in a search. I guess I should’ve specified that. I didn’t even attempt to see who owned them and need to be more mindful when I take a screenshot.
Could you post more info please!? I think this group could benefit from finds like yours!!

No worries Jina. I'm a member here and submit labels periodically. Ruth is free to grab the ones that you've posted, or I can reshoot them if she prefers.

I'm not on label team, so I'm going to tag someone who is. I imagine they'll need details of the garment so it's up to you if want to provide that. It's great to establish that Miss Serbin is linked, so perhaps that can be added to the bio. Not that I'm trying to tell the label resource team their job! I'll leave it in their capable hands. @Ranch Queen Vintage

You certainly aren't the first person to do this! I had assumed they were your images and your garments. Yes, because it's technically easy to copy someone else's photos, people don't realise that it's often not appropriate to do so, as the images are owned by whoever took the photo. Professional photographers have to deal with this issue a lot, and have been known to sue for copyright infringement in some cases. The internet is rife with it of course. It's something you become more aware of if you publish your own images, and then see people using them without asking or crediting you, or if you have a blog and need images for it and someone complains if you use theirs without permission.

Thank you so very much for your softness and approach. I forget not everybody operates like I do where I share and give freely things like this. I will be more mindful going forward that some people make their livelihood off of photography and blogs. I’m not used to feeling so censored so it’s a good learning experience for me. Thanks again! And I’m glad the info gets added one way or another.
