Shoe dating help, please.

Please double-check my timelines. I think I'm on the money with the first two, but 3 and 4 I'm feeling lost.

Many thanks!!!

1) Slingback Ferragamo spectators - mid to late 70s

2) Almond toe platforms by M.E.N. Elaganza - early 70s

3) Tame psychedelic green swirl by Bruno Magli - late 70s ?, or is that heel much later?

4) Pierre Cardin brown suede pumps - aren't they sweet? - 80s?

The first pair you are probably right on, I can't quite see the heels but if they are straight then they are 70s, if they are tapered, more like stilettos, they are just into the early 80s. Second pair is bang on. Third pair is mid 80s -- that triangular heel came out in Europe in 79 but it wasn't really popular until 83-87. The last pair are either early 70s or early 90s -- I can't tell from the photo. The heel is slightly waisted which is more typical of the early 90s but the had waisted or Louis heels in the early 70s too, suede was popular at both times, but that garnet red colours is more typically early 70s. The cutouts on the side are also more typically early 70s so I will say early 70s on them but I would need to handle them to be sure.

you cannot post shoes without stating size...its a rule :)

as far as the last pair...

it also depends on what shade it really is - hard to tell from photo - what throws me off is in the early 90s wines, cranberrys, burgundies that we red or purple leaning rather than very brown were popular. I just remember that becausethose are colors i just can't wear and they were everywhere

from the picture they sorta look like those colors. maybe the decider is what the inside label/wording looks like,

i do seem to remember heels in the late 90s either being squarer or having a Louis heel but the Louis heel was not as straight. I am sure Jonathan is more right in this case.

You guys are the GREATEST!

Thanks, Jonathan!!! I've included a better pic of the Ferragamo heel and, if I understand correctly, then that would make it 70s. And the PC's are a milk chocolate brown; so 70s as well, but I have included pic of label just in case.

Sadly, Chris, the PC's are too small for our big feet! And everything else is either small or bigger and narrow. I will have a pair of NOS 60s red/white spectator pumps (not exactly the season, but I need room) by White Cross that I think are an 8 (reads 70 and I will check conversion chart) cause I can almost get my 8-1/2 foot in. I still look for orangy, rusty cowboy boots whenever I go out though!

The heel on the first pair could be as early as 1978 or as late as 1984, so its in there somwhere... but the suede pair are definatley 70s I recognize that style of label for Cardin as being from the 70s. Its after he starts licensing his name.
