Shoe help please - 30\'s or 40\'s?

Hi,
I got these brown embroidered pumps quite awhile ago, and I was told they were 30's. For some reason I was thinking that they were 40's. Can someone tell me what characteristics make them 30's?
Also wanted to double check on the black Daniel Green peeptoe slippers....I'm thinking 40's for sure....any other opinions?
Thanks in advance!
Ang

I believe the Daniel Green company made that style of "comfy slippers" from the late 1930's through the 1950's. I wish they still did!

I didn't think they looked like 30's shoes...

Just last week I had a similar situation. A sweet eldery lady offered to give me a "beautiful early 40's coat" that used to be hers. When she brought it to me, it was so obviously 80's....but I wasn't going to argue with her, oh well :)

Okay, so early 50's on the brown, and 40's on the black?

40s on the Daniel Greens: do they have frogs on the front? I think I have their sisters, in a size 8 and a half.

Agree on the early '50s for the baby dolls. Very nice!

those brown lovelies aren't a size 8 by any chance are they?????....

Mary,
They are marked "8AA". I wear 8 - 8 1/2 and they're too narrow for me, but my friend who wears a 7 1/2 fits them perfectly. So I guess it depends how narrow your feet are.
Here are the measurements:
Length inside - 10"
Width inside at ball of foot - 2 3/4"
Width outside at ball of foot - 3"
:sunshine:

:damnit:

i have fat (wide) feet. i'm sure i could step-sister my foot into them, but would never be able to walk in them.

hobble hobble wobble

sigh. thanks for the reply, though!! :hiya: and best of luck w/them!!

This may help to answer some of your questions. I'm going to double post this excellent reference shoe link I've just come across on the other shoe dating Q&A thread. It's the best pocket- book reference I've seen and covers '1920-Now.'

Are these little decorations called frogs?
If not, what would you call them? :scratchchin:

Yes! They're my shoes

I call those frogs, although I suspect that frogging might be a particular style, I tend to use the word for any of those Asian piping elaborate closures with stuff on the side. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, that makes sense. Thanks for the info!
