shoe sizing?

Hi, I am so excited I won these shoes on ebay.
I got them to wear at a friends trunk show where I'll be modeling in a window as the "man" in a couple...a pink haired pin-up model will complete the couple. She has sort of a victorian lesbian couple in mind, we'll both be wearing corsets and I get to wear my top hat!

anyway...I think I got them so cheap due to the sizing, she says they are marked 5 or 5.5 but her measurments are way off for a US size 5, they also don't look that small to me. I have a pair of cowboy boots marked 5 but they fit me like a US 8 1/2.
anyone know what country's sizing may fit these measurments? I hope she just didn't make a mistake in measuring! should I keep shopping?

I saw a chart also and I have just come to the conclusion that women's shoes are screwy!
I took off my boot I am wearing with socks..marked 8, and inside measures 9 1/4"
In my closet (and under my bed and in bins and...) I have shoes marked from (converted to US) 7-9 that actually fit. I guess I'll have to wait and see if they'll fit. I think the 5 in the auction helped to scare off potential bidders though, woot!
