Shoes- What kind of fur do you think this is?

Hello everyone! :hiya:

I found this pair of shoes or slippers last night and wonder if anyone can shed some light on the type of fur, age, etc. Is this just cow fur that was dyed? Or is it authentic wild cat fur?

They look hand-made and the lining is a thickly glazed material that has the look of patent leather. If it helps the brown spots go all the way to the skin. The soles are a layers of foamy rubber, but the layer right next to the shoe is thick leather.

Any help would be appreciated :-)

I know! LOL, aren't they fun and funky?? They meaure 10 1/2in inside length and 4in wide, so I am guessing they are the perfect pimp shoe:bouncy:
 
if they are the genuine fur..then you cant sell it without a license unless you can have provenance it is pre 1947!!LOL
 
I know that it's cheetah, and it looks faux. Look closely at the edges, the fur is in little groupings - like a carpet!

Or hair plugs! :hysterical:

You could be right, but I think the fur looks like little plugs because of threads from the sewing machine where the hide was sewn to the leather. I do believe it is real fur, but what kind of fur is it and how old do you these are with that kind of a sole and insole? I am stumped!
 
If it's real fur, it looks like cheetah. They look 70's to me with those striped soles.

Hi Janine, I actually bought them at two different places. How Fun! The "Star Spangled Pimp" shoes are about a ladies size 6 to 6 1/2 medium. Ugh, too small for my size 7
 
My guess, and it's only aguess, is that it is real hide/fur, but faux cheetah. The soles look inexpensive, so my guess is that the upper wouldn't be real cheetah, but a substitute like treated cowhide.

They are great fun.
